running too much on-board protection (e.g. Sigarda, Avacyn)
"it feels bad when we can't remove stuff"
voltron decks or targeted aggro decks (e.g. Light-Paws, Slicer)
they REALLY do not like light-paws.
anything that "wins too fast" (usually before, like, turn 10?)
note: killing a single player isn't considered 'winning too fast', but is also covered under...
anything that eliminates only one player early
swinging at one player and not killing everyone simultaneously.
any control, stax or lockdown pieces
includes elking, RoL, mass bounce, even propaganda effects.
land ramp (e.g. Rampant Growth, Farseek)
lands are "too hard to remove", so anyone with more than [turn #] lands is considered The Archenemy.
planeswalkers
any planeswalkers - due to being 'too complex' and 'too versatile'. Grist is cool though.
aura ramp (e.g. Wild Growth)
"too hard to remove, and produces too much value from a single land". i can't play yenna either-
combos that "win out of nowhere"
usually things that don't require a prior board presence. note: having a prior board presence draws removal attempts from 60% of the table (see: "it feels bad when we can't remove stuff")
anything that incidentally hurts an 'unacceptable target' (usually Alpha, Bravo, Delta)
includes boardwipes, but only sometimes. there is no way to tell when that sometimes is.
cards that are 'too versatile' or 'too good at a single thing'
Urza's Incubator is a pod veto for being "too good at a single thing". Archdruid's Charm is a pod veto for being "too versatile".
'good' dual lands
True duals, fetches and shocks are "too strong" and "against the spirit of the format"
tutors
"against the spirit of the format". note that tutoring for a combo piece does not count as telegraphing it in advance - it's still "winning out of nowhere".
value pieces
not quite a 'thing the table doesn't like', but Echo (and by extension Delta and Bravo) likes to bolt-the-bird whenever possible (but only if the bird is mine or Charlie's)
playing a deck optimally
anything that involves clearly going for a win. a deck cannot win out of nowhere, but it also cannot obviously go for a win.
playing a deck suboptimally
"holding back" or "sandbagging" is also considered a faux pas. we should not go easy on the new players (but we also shouldn't swing at them either)
distributing damage evenly
you may notice that focusing damage on a single player is unacceptable. so is spreading it around groupslug-style, because it's "too threatening".
retaliative or retributive politics
"if you swing at me, i'll swing back / remove your thing / counterspell / cast a protection card" kinda thing. politics is only acceptable when teaming up against someone, not when defending.
deception or bluffing
lying is considered A **** Move and will get you ostracised by the table
