# MTG Commander Deckbuilding: Mog, Moogle Warrior – Boros Madness

You are an experienced Magic: The Gathering Commander deckbuilder with extensive knowledge of card synergies, Commander rules, Madness mechanics, deck optimization, and multiplayer strategies.

Build a powerful, synergistic, and consistent **100-card Commander deck** featuring **Mog, Moogle Warrior** as the commander.

## 1. Core Deck Concept

- **Commander:** Mog, Moogle Warrior
- **Color Identity:** Boros (Red/White)
- **Format:** Commander / EDH, four-player multiplayer
- **Target Power Level:** 8/10, without necessarily being cEDH
- **Primary Strategy:** Madness, Discard, and Graveyard Value
- **Secondary Strategy:** Moogle Tokens, +1/+1 Counters, and Combat Damage
- **Budget:** Initially unrestricted; identify expensive cards and suggest budget alternatives
- **Playstyle:** Aggressive, highly synergistic, decision-intensive, and consistent

**Important:** The deck must genuinely function as a Madness deck rather than a generic Boros token deck containing a handful of Madness cards.

## 2. Maximizing the Commander's Potential

Mog has lifelink and the following ability:

*Dance — At the beginning of your end step, each player may discard a card. Each player who discarded a card this way draws a card. If a creature card was discarded this way, you create a 1/2 white Moogle creature token with lifelink. Then if a noncreature card was discarded this way, put a +1/+1 counter on each Moogle you control.*

Build around this ability in several ways:

1. Discard Madness cards during your end step and cast them for their Madness costs.
2. Include additional discard outlets to enable Madness outside your own end step.
3. Turn discarding into additional card advantage.
4. Utilize both creature and noncreature discards to maximize Mog's rewards.
5. Strengthen Moogle tokens through token synergies and +1/+1 counters.
6. Investigate additional end steps and triggered-ability copying where rules-legal and strategically worthwhile.

Remember that each Dance trigger creates at most one Moogle token and places at most one +1/+1 counter on each Moogle, regardless of how many qualifying cards are discarded.

Consider that opponents also participate in Mog's ability. Evaluate how their choices influence the deck's performance.

## 3. Madness as the Primary Mechanic

Identify all relevant Commander-legal Madness cards within the Boros color identity.

Evaluate each card based on:

- Madness cost compared to normal mana cost
- Mana efficiency and multiplayer relevance
- Synergy with Mog
- Playability without a discard outlet
- Contribution to card advantage, removal, or board presence

Prioritize Madness cards that provide meaningful mana savings, tempo advantages, or tactical flexibility.

If the pool of strong Red/White Madness cards is insufficient, supplement it with carefully selected discard payoffs, Flashback, recursion, and graveyard-based value.

**Madness must remain the central strategy. Do not include weak cards solely because they have Madness.**

## 4. Building a Reliable Discard Engine

The deck requires numerous ways to discard cards deliberately.

Prioritize:

- Repeatable discard outlets
- Instant-speed discard abilities
- Low activation costs
- Discarding as part of useful effects
- Looting and rummaging
- Discard outlets that allow Madness spells to be cast at strategically favorable times

Explore ways to trigger Madness during opponents' turns.

Evaluate whether discard outlets can repeatedly enable Madness without exhausting your hand.

Prioritize engines that turn discarding into a benefit rather than a pure resource loss.

## 5. Card Advantage and Resource Management

One major weakness of Madness strategies is running out of cards.

Build a reliable card-advantage engine.

Look for:

- Repeatable card draw
- Discard-and-draw effects
- Impulse draw, where strategically and mechanically appropriate
- Cards that reward discarding with additional resources
- Graveyard recursion
- Permanents that provide long-term value in multiplayer games

Avoid building a deck that becomes explosive for two turns but then runs out of meaningful plays.

The deck should remain functional and threatening in longer Commander games.

## 6. Moogle Tokens and +1/+1 Counters

The Moogle token strategy should serve as a secondary win condition.

Investigate:

- Token doublers
- +1/+1 counter multiplication
- Counter distribution and transfer effects
- Additional combat phases
- Evasion, trample, and protection for large Moogle armies
- Ways to convert attacking Moogles into additional card advantage or damage

Ensure that the token strategy complements the Madness engine instead of replacing it.

Avoid excessive investment in generic token support that does not directly contribute to the deck's main game plan.

## 7. Win Conditions

The deck should feature at least three distinct and realistic paths to victory.

### A. Madness Value and Damage

Generate card advantage, board presence, and damage through repeatedly discarding and casting Madness spells.

### B. Moogle Army

Generate a growing army of Moogle tokens, increase their power with +1/+1 counters, and win through combat damage.

### C. Synergistic Combo or Engine

Identify combinations involving discard, mana generation, damage, graveyard recursion, and card draw.

Investigate both explosive finite interactions and potential infinite combos.

For every combo, evaluate:

- Required cards
- Mana requirements
- Vulnerability to interaction
- Consistency
- Realistic effectiveness in multiplayer Commander

Do not force infinite combos into the deck if doing so significantly weakens or dilutes the Madness strategy.

## 8. Deck Composition

Start with the following approximate distribution.

These are functional categories, meaning individual cards may contribute to multiple categories. The final deck must contain exactly 100 card slots, including the commander.

| Category | Target |
|---|---|
| Commander | 1 |
| Lands | 36 |
| Ramp / Mana Acceleration | 10 |
| Madness Spells | 12–16 |
| Discard Outlets | 10–12 |
| Card Draw / Card Advantage | 9–11 |
| Removal / Interaction | 9–11 |
| Token and Counter Synergies | 6–8 |
| Protection / Recursion / Win Conditions | Remaining slots |

Adjust the distribution according to actual card quality, functional overlap, mana curve, and playtesting results.

Pay special attention to:

- Sufficient red mana sources to cast Madness spells
- Available untapped mana when discarding Madness cards
- Efficient mana curve
- Early discard outlets
- Reliable opportunities to cast Mog on turns 2–3
- Reduced dependence on individual cards
- Strong performance even when Mog is temporarily unavailable

## 9. Deck Analysis and Optimization

Evaluate the final deck using the following questions:

1. How consistently can the deck establish a Madness engine by turn four?
2. How many Madness cards are expected in an opening hand?
3. How frequently are Madness cards stranded without a discard outlet?
4. How reliably does the deck have enough mana to cast Madness spells when discarded?
5. How quickly can Mog generate a meaningful Moogle army?
6. How well does the deck recover from board wipes?
7. How vulnerable is the deck to graveyard hate?
8. How effectively can the deck function without its commander?
9. Which five cards are the weakest inclusions?
10. What changes would improve consistency without diluting the Madness theme?

If possible, perform goldfish testing or a transparent mathematical probability analysis.

Clearly distinguish theoretical estimates from actual simulated results.

## 10. Required Output

### A. Complete Decklist

Provide:

- Exactly 100 cards, including the commander
- Only Commander-legal cards within Boros color identity
- No illegal duplicates
- Mana costs and functional categories for each card

### B. The 15 Most Important Cards

For every card, explain:

- Why it belongs in the deck
- Which synergies it enables
- Its role in the overall strategy

### C. The 10 Strongest Synergies

For each synergy, provide:

- Cards involved
- Exact interaction
- Relevant rules explanation
- Expected result
- Required conditions

Clearly distinguish true infinite combos from repeatable value engines.

### D. Gameplay Guide

Explain:

- Mulligan strategy
- Early game: turns 1–3
- Midgame: turns 4–7
- Late game: turn 8 onward
- Common mistakes
- Optimal discard decisions
- When to prioritize Madness spells over generating Moogle tokens
- How to play around opponent interaction

### E. Power-Level Assessment

Evaluate the deck on:

- Overall power level
- Speed
- Consistency
- Interaction
- Card advantage
- Resilience against removal
- Multiplayer effectiveness

Explain whether the target power level of 8/10 is realistically achievable with Mog as a Boros Madness commander.

### F. Deck Export

Provide the complete decklist in a format compatible with Moxfield or Archidekt.

Requirements:

- One card per line
- Correct card names
- Exact quantities
- No fictional cards or invented card text
- Verify all cards against current Commander legality and color-identity restrictions

## 11. Additional Strategic Requirements

Consider the following cards as possible synergy pieces, but evaluate their actual performance rather than automatically including them:

- Containment Construct
- Surly Badgersaur
- Currency Converter

Investigate additional powerful Red/White/colorless cards that reward discarding or improve Madness efficiency.

Do not assume a card with a discard-related effect automatically supports Madness. Explain whether each interaction works under the official Magic rules.

Specifically account for:

- Madness timing and the option to cast a discarded card
- Mana availability when Madness triggers
- Discarding as a cost versus discarding as an effect
- The difference between casting a spell and simply placing a card into the graveyard
- Interactions involving replacement effects, exile, and graveyard recursion
- Multiplayer interactions with Mog's Dance trigger

Use official Oracle card text whenever possible.

## 12. Final Optimization Pass

After generating the first complete decklist, critically review it.

Identify:

1. Cards that do not meaningfully advance the primary strategy.
2. Cards that are too expensive for their impact.
3. Red

"This is a Boros discard-and-Madness shell, but the requested Mog, Moogle Warrior is not an officially recognized, Commander-legal Magic card in the supplied card information. The list therefore cannot be verified as a legal Commander deck with that commander; it treats Mog as a custom commander and uses only singleton cards with red-white color identity. Important rules point: a card discarded to Mog's end-step ability is discarded during resolution of that ability. Madness triggers, but the discarded card is not cast in the middle of the resolving ability; after the ability finishes, its owner may cast it before losing priority, if they can pay its Madness cost. With Mog alone, each player discards at most one card, so creature and noncreature discards cannot both qualify for that player on the same trigger. The list is intended as a starting point rather than a certified 8/10 build: several entries are lower-impact, and a custom commander cannot be assessed against official legality or reliably power-ranked. Verify card names, legality, and the supplied commander with a current deck-building database before use."- EDHGen.ai
